KPL T10 takes off!!

The KPL T10 took off yesterday with an exciting match between the 2 junior teams - The Kilpauk Hawks & the Votive Eagles.

The Kilpauk Hawks won the match by 12 runs.

Put into Bat by the Votive Eagles, they made 48 runs in 10 overs. In reply to this the Votive Eagles could get only 37 Runs in the stipulated 10 overs. The man of the Match was Domininc Hawes of the Kilpauk Hawks.

The Votive Eagles captain Mark Corera had plans of restricting the Kilpauk Hawks to 20 odd runs, but the Kilpauk Hawks had a good batting line up. Being cheered on by the Cheering teams they went in and put a good total.

Blowing by the Kilpauk Hawks was almost perfect, showed that these guys had actually practiced before the match.

Now the Kilpauk Hawks will meet the formidable OLD MONKS in the finals next sunday.

Rev. Fr. Parish Priest inaugurated the tournament.

Over all it was an exciting, fun Match.

KILPAUK PARISH LEAGUE T10

In an effort of bring our Parish Community together & be more involved & Active, and also with the Cricket fever happening in our country, the YOUTH of our parish suggested organizing a Cricket match between the Youth and the Seniors of our Parish.
Thus, the KILPAUK PARISH LEAGUE T10 was formed.

This is not serious cricket at all, but it is also for the Die-Hard cricket fans. We would like to see all your suggestions being put across to the Indian & the IPL teams through the TV being put to use here and show them that you can do what you say!! Can you do that???

If you can do that then give in your names during the 11th of May 2008 and 18th of May 2008, at the cricket match to play for either the Juniors (below 30) or the seniors (above 30) for the next tournament in the coming months.

Currently there are 3 teams of 12 players each.
2 teams from the juniors (below 30) & 1 team from the seniors (above 30)
The Junior teams are called "KILPAUK HAWKS" & "VOTIVE EAGLES" the senior team is called "OLD MONKS" (ring a bell somewhere??!!!??)

On the 11th of May 2008, the Kilpauk Hawks & the Votive Eagles will clash, the winners will play the Old Monks on the 18th of May 2008.

The Votive Shrine Summer Bible Camp for Kids

The New Summer Bible Camp for Kids started off today at the School Building in our Parish.
The Kids had fun with the Magician from Breeze Hotel. They learnt a few Action Songs, and watched a bit of the Movie "Jesus of Nazareth"
Being the 1st day, the activies were a little less, but great plans from tomorrow onwards.
Do send in your children to have fun, play games and learn about the BIBLE.

Brief History

On 5th September 1942, Archbishop Dr Louis Mathias SDB vowed publicly that he would erect a shrine in Honour of the Immaculate Heart of Mary if she preserves the Archdiocese and the Missions from the atrocities of the war.The Archbishop received help from different quarters. The contractor of the Catholic centre volunteered to build the shrine free of cost. A wealthy Frenchman named Mr Proudhomme, living in Kilpauk donated his property called the 'Fontenoy' for construction of this Shrine. The foundation of the Church was laid on 20th April 1952 and erected as Parish Church on 6th December 1953.The statue of Our Lady of Fatima was solemnly crowned on the 11th of December 1954. The first Parish Priest was Fr A S Theodre.
